BEFORE AND AFTER CARE
Shower no less than 4 hours before your session. A clean base is needed for a flawless application. No barriers should be on the skin at the time of your appointment.
Do not wear lotion, perfume, or deodorant to your appointment! (this is why you need to shower before hand!)
If you have deodorant on in the day and just wipe it off, it will still show up during your initial spray tan session turning the armpits green. Although this does typically wash off, its better to leave it off completely the day of your tan if you are unable to shower right before hand.
You will want to shave all areas you normally shave before coming in! Every time you shave you take a layer of skin off which is what DHA sits on. ( The ingredient that makes you look tan)
Dark, loose clothing is suggested for your session. I always suggest not wearing a bra right after until your first shower.
Please let your spray tan artist know if you wear sports tape as this WILL leave a film on your skin, even days after not wearing it and will affect the outcome of your tan.
Most clients choose to go nude or prefer just underwear. It is whatever is most comfortable for you! I always suggest wearing at under wear for your first tan so you can see the difference in the tan line.
While the fresh solution is on the skin, you want to avoid working out or exposure to water as it will damage the cosmetic layer + the tan. Water damage is the only thing that is not fixable when the tan is developing.
Because the layer of solution on you is cosmetic, it is normal to see scuffs and buffs before the first shower. Once you rinse, everything should even out perfectly for you!
( as long as it is not from sweating or water)
We want to get the cosmetic layer off but don't want to get too crazy! A nice rinse with or without body wash is suggested. You do not want to scrub or exfoliate. Gently pat dry your spray tan when you get out of the shower.
Avoid exfoliating, loofas, or wash clothes during the duration of your tan.
You WILL SEE COLOR WASHING OFF IN THE SHOWER! THIS IS OKAY! IT IS THE COSMETIC LAYER! Your full color will develop over 24-72 hours after the session!
To prolong the life of your tan you will want to make sure you are drinking plenty of water and moisturize at least 2x daily. Moisturizing will also help your tan fade evenly. Lotions should be free of any sulfates as it will break up the tan. Apply perfumes to clothes and not directly on the skin.
Tan extenders+tanning waters are great to keep your tan glowing as long as possible!

Around day 7-10, you may notice your tan starting to fade. Depending on your skin and hydration, some areas may start to come off sooner than others.
Hop in a hot shower or soak in a hot bath. Take a dry wash cloth and gently rub out the areas that you notice are coming off not so great. Do not try to scrub off a tan in one session. This is something you will want to work on over the next few days. Bump up your hydrating and moisturizing at this time.
We do a great job on making sure your hands and wrist look au natural! However, things do happen. You can always take dawn dish soap and let it sit on your wrist for a few minutes. Then you can gently rub it out and it should start to fade for you. Repeat if necessary.
Q+A
20-30 minutes per appointment.
Yes, we accept credit card payments. VENMO, CASH APP and cash are also accepted.
Your spray tech will build a custom solution based on your skin tone and your bronze goals. No matter how dark you want to go, it will be a natural looking tan. YOU WILL NOT BE ORANGE!
Things happen, I get it! At this time, we do not have a cancelation policy but we do ask that you give a heads up if you have to miss your appointment. If you no show, or miss two appointments, you will be asked in the future to purchase your sessions ahead of time!
If you are not satisfied with your tan or have any issues, you have 48 hours to reach out after your session. You will also be asked to come in so we can see what happened in person and try to do a color correction. If you cannot come in, you MUST send pictures.
In my 18 years of service, I have only had two people come with complaints. One person was allergic, and one person really didn't have an issue. It is easy to fix any issue that is why it is important that you send your artist pictures to show that the tan is not up to standard.
If you walk out of the studio flawless, you will be responsible for what happens when you leave. Water damage will be your responsibility and not on Shade or the Spray Tan Artist.
We do not offer refunds and all sales will be final, but we will do whatever it takes to make sure you are happy. Please keep in mind if it is your first session, to treat your first spray tan as a "trial". We all have different skin types + sometimes we need a trial to see what methods or solutions will work best for your skin! Although this usually is not an issue, things do happen!
NO! This is a common misconception.
Super pale skin is not a problem. Each tan is custom blended by your spray tan artist. With a combination of lighter solutions, less DHA, and leaving the solution for a shorter period of time, we can create the lightest subtle glow for you.
Darker skin types- So many people think that if you are already dark you cannot benefit from a spray tan and that is not the case. A spray tan will help even out your skin tone and give you a all over, flawless natural glow! We can make you darker, or we can simply just give you that simple even color all around!
